Put "Buddy System" on signs on trails. Many safety rules on the etiquette signs leave out the most important: Buddy System. Men with guns use back up. Women are alone on the trails in the USA w/no reminders to use the Buddy System. Police/military/hunters know back up makes a difference. The last women's magazine with useful information about how to use the Buddy System was in Cosmopolitan 2009. Did violence against women stop enough for us to end telling women about back up, 2 in 2 out, I got your back? No institution tells women to use the Buddy System. No one in our culture makes it clear the benefits of 2 in 2 out for women like fishing, scuba diving, sky diving, kayaking, snow mobile clubs, prison guards, military, hunting, police, firefighters, EMT/EMS do for men. Men have a culture of back up. Where does that leave women? Put "Buddy System" on the signs for trails.
